My Review

Wow, wow and more WOW! Find Me blew my mind in so many ways! It's shivery, electric, edgy and I loved it!
The storyline follows main character Wick, who lives with her little sister Lily and their foster parents. Lily and Wick haven't had an easy life, their mother was a jumper and their father is a cruel criminal that is still trying to make their lives hell.

Wick is a computer wiz and expert hacker, she learnt her skills from her dad's criminal buddies. Nowadays she just hacks for women checking up on cheating partners and their bank accounts. But when there is the murder of her old best friend, who's diary just happens to be left outside her door with the words FIND ME written inside, she knows things just got serious....

Romily Bernard is a very talented writer who manages to toy with the reader the whole way throughout the book. Action packed danger, edge of your seat chilling moments and plenty of jumps guarantees Find Me to be an unforgettable thrill ride of a read.

Admittedly I had an idea who the culprit was quite early on, but that didn't really matter because it still scared the hell out of me....not kidding! Bernard knows how to set the perfect scene to get the full impact of what she's telling!

The ending was nail bitingly brilliant and I'm hoping there will be another book because of the intriguing little snippet at the end.

Find Me is one hell of an awesome read. I flew through those pages like a maniac because I just HAD to know and I think any reader will be compelled to do the same. Also loved the interesting mix of characters. I need more....

4.5 / 5 Stars!

Inspiration Guest Post

I’m not sure if it’s a sign of arrival or imminent collision when a VP at your company swings through the cubicle ghetto to tell you how “great” it is that you’re published. I’m really not sure what to make of my reaction either. What should’ve been a pleasant, but forgettable exchange turned into a sweaty, stammery mess.

In other words, it was completely me and another example of why I should never be allowed out in public. How is it possible that I have enough critical thinking skills to hold down a job…and yet I never considered people were going to ask about FIND ME?

Don’t answer that.

So anyway I was melting down in my cubicle because not only did said VP want to congratulate me, he also pulled the dreaded follow-up: “Your book is scary. Where do you get your ideas?”

This is never a good topic for thriller writers. I have one critique partner who came up with a creative way to kill characters while standing in line at the grocery store. I have another who gets the best inspiration for places to hide bodies while at her in-law’s.

Which is probably not a coincidence.

My point? There aren’t many ways you can explain inspiration and still sound…well…normal. In my case, the inspiration behind FIND ME is a two-part answer. The first? The agent I desperately wanted was interested in YA thrillers so I…wrote one. Makes it sound easy, doesn’t it? It wasn’t. FIND ME took about nine months to write—a lot of nights, weekends, and staff meetings where I was supposed to be paying attention to upcoming projects, but was actually researching stalkers.

The second part of FIND ME’s inspiration? I had this idea about a teenage hacker trying to work while a cop circled her house. No idea why she was a hacker. No idea why the cop was dirty. I started writing to figure it out.

So you can see why explaining my inspiration is long, involved, and should never be shared with small children let alone my coworkers, but right now the VP is just staring at me and I need an answer.

“Where do I come up with my ideas?” I repeat and then grin, really, really wide. “Mostly in staff meetings.”

‘Cause as long as you’re going to be the weird girl no one wants to talk to, you might as well be the weird girl who gets out of that weekly torture.
