Combining the elements of dark and light, the new covers are designed to embody the spirit of the series as a whole, rather than each individual book, as none of the books are really standalones.
Fans of the series will understand the symbolism of the butterfly on the cover of the first book,
The Canary Wharf skyline is visible in the background on all the new covers, bringing the London location of the books to the forefront.
In essence, the new covers mark the very end of the series and, I feel, completes it in a way it deserves.
As well as the new dark covers that now adorn the eBooks (and also coming to paperback by the end of December), a 'light cover edition' will also be available in paperback from January, 2014. So, the reader can now mix and match their covers for each of the four books if they wish, or stick with all dark, or all light.
A new look for the series has been a long time coming, but it is only after completion that it was possible to see how to do this.
