My Review

I picked this book up right after the awesome events of the first book and I'm so pleased to say that this instalment was also quite awesome indeed!

I think it picks up a few months after the last book and the action is raging right from the start! What I think this story lacked was Anna herself, I truly missed her! Saying that she still plays the big key part in the story, but I missed her and Cas actually being together!

Cas desperately wants to know what happened to Anna, so he is trying to find out some much needed answers. But when she starts haunting him, she consumes his every moment and he is forced to push for answers in the most dangerous of places.

Cas and his friends delve into a hidden world of a secret order. They apparently hold the key to opening a door to hell itself - but helping them access it goes against everything the order stands for!

Can Cas rescue Anna from the fiery depths of hell, where she is tortured and abused by a deadly enemy that will not let her escape? That is the question!

Kendare Blake writes gorgeously and I felt every emotion and blow the trio of friends were faced with. I think the characters developed beautifully and I adored watching relationships blossom. My heart was shattered so many times throughout this story, but it really wasn't all doom and gloom, the raging action, danger, chills, thrills and humour are key to what makes this story so entrancing.

I especially loved the journey through the Suicide Forest, which had me quaking in my boots! Taking the teens to a totally new environment was a really interesting move that I think really payed off.

The ending was achingly beautiful in a bitter-sweet sort of way!

Girl of Nightmares is a stunning follow up to the fantastic Anna Dressed in Blood. It has a brilliant mix of characters, I really love kick-ass Cas. It takes the reader on a relentless journey through haunting moments and seriously shocking revelations - in a vividly pained world that easily sucks you in. Not forgetting the beautiful romance that will have you sighing in longing. A must read book that I will enjoy returning to again and again.

4 / 5 Stars!
