Sister Assassin by Kiersten White

Summary from Goodreads

She never chose her deadly gift but now she’s forced to use it. How far would you go to protect the only family you have left?

Annie is beset by fleeting strange visions and a guilty conscience. Blind and orphaned, she struggles to care for her feisty younger sister Fia, but things look up when both sisters are offered a place at Kessler School for Exceptional Girls.

Born with flawless intuition, Fia immediately knows that something’s wrong, but bites her tongue… until it’s too late. For Fia is the perfect weapon to carry out criminal plans and there are those at Kessler who will do anything to ensure her co-operation.

My Review

I really enjoyed this super quick read, to be honest is was over all too quickly for me!

I adored main character Fia, she is beautifully broken and she really does kick-butt - I thoroughly enjoyed enjoyed getting to know her wickedly dark, dangerous nature and I loved watching her live on the edge!

I like how the book came from the 2 sisters point of view and from different times in their lives, I think it really added depth to the storyline and fleshed out the characters  - but saying that, I felt like I had whiplash by the end as it shot back and forwards so much. I would be really getting into a certain part then it was over and we were back in the present, which really annoyed me!

But I still loved this twisted, taut, breakneck paced, shocking, thrill ride and I think people in need of a a quick, on the edge of your seat read should look no further than Sister Assassin!

7 years ago, Fia and Annie's parents die and they end up going to live with their aunt! Annie is blind but she saw her parents car crash before it happens and couldn't do anything about it! A private school takes an interest in Annie and asks her to join their school, they are just interested in her abilities, but when they meet Fia they discover something about her that makes them want to collect her for themselves!

Fia is used for dark deeds by the academy and there is nothing she can do about it or they will hurt Annie! But when Fia doesn't complete a mission the 2 sisters worlds are shattered!

Can Fia manage to save herself and her sister!?

Well, the ending is one action packed, unexpected shocker and I loved it! I'm not too sure if there will be another book but there definitely could be and I would love to read it!

Overall this is a great edgy book, it kept me guessing throughout and I really couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next!

3.5/5 Stars

  1. I thought the narrative was a little messy at times too, but I'm glad you enjoyed the fast pace of it. :) I don't think I'll be picking up the next book, but I look forward to seeing what you think of it. Great review, Carly! :)

  2. Oh, this sounds really good despite the messy narrative now and then. I like books about sisters and I can't wait to read this after enjoying her two Paranormalcy books(I still need to read Endlessly)
    Nice review Carly!
