Drink Deep by Chloe Neill‏

Summary

Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and Merit the vampire can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn, or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times have never been more precarious for the vampires. If only they could lay low for a bit...

Then magic rears its ugly head when Lake Michigan turns black. The mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows a panic is coming. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for both the vampires and humans

My review

After the killing off of a certain male character in the last book, I sort of fell out with Chloe Neill and I picked up this still huffing a little bit lol! I tend to have a love/hate relationship with this series in general but I am so pleased to announce that Drink Deep is one of the better ones in the series. I think main character Merit really came into her own and the story really was taken to a whole other level. Chloe Neill's writing style is always great, easy to get right back into and highly addictive. I really, really can't wait to get my grubby paws on the next instalment 'Biting Cold'!

Drink Deep picks up after the drama at the end of Hard Bitten, Merit is still grieving the loss of a certain male vampire. But she has bigger things to worry about, very strange things have been happening and it's drawing the attention of all the humans, who are out to get the vamps anyway. There seems to be something majorly wrong with the paranormal balance in the area. It's left up to Merit to try and figure out what exactly is going on before it's too late.... The darkest, strongest magic is in play and when it comes down to it things become more serious than first thought. Can Merit really save mankind?

Well the ending is full of unexpected shockers, which I am very happy about... well some of them. There was one major thing that I twigged onto to quite early on in the book, which sort of ruined the shock factor for me. But all in all a great instalment from Chloe Neill that was full of twists, turns, mystery and not forgetting tons of action and some hotness that I won't give away. Bring on Biting Cold, which I am now biting my nails in anticipation for.

*I bought this book myself from Amazon*
