Stuck by Oliver Jeffers

Summary

Delightful chaos ensues when a young boy gets his kite stuck up a tree in this laugh-out-loud new picture book from award-winning, internationally best-selling author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers!

Floyd gets his kite stuck up a tree. He throws up his shoe to shift it, but that gets stuck too. So he throws up his other shoe and that gets stuck, along with… a ladder, a pot of paint, the kitchen sink, an orang-utan and a whale, amongst other things!

Will Floyd ever get his kite back?

A hilarious book with a wonderful surprise ending.

My Review

When you see Oliver Jeffers name on a book you can be guaranteed it will be brilliant and Stuck really is no exception to that rule. It is charming, silly and a whole lot of fun. The storyline really did flow perfectly and had us laughing out loud on lots of occasions. I always love the fabulous illustrations in the authors books, which are full of life and colour. Stuck is yet again another winner that I can highly recommend, it will certainly put a smile on your face if nothing else.

It all started when a boy called Floyd gets his kite stuck in a tree. He throws his favourite shoe at it but it only gets stuck too. So Floyd randomly starts throwing everything and anything at the tree to try and get the kite unstuck. The stuff he throws gets sillier and sillier and funnier and funnier all the time.

But will poor Floyd ever get his kite back? Not to mention everything else he has winged at the tree. Well I won't give anything more away!

After reading Stuck my daughter wanted to know if we could go out and throw things at trees too, which was really funny. I told her that something had to accidentally get stuck up there in the first place, I bet she is still trying to figure out how to make that happen.

I urge everyone to pick up this amazing book for the little one(s) in your life TODAY!

  3. I can just imagine one of my kids going out into the forest behind our house and throwing things at the trees, The story sounds so cute! Don't put ideas into predocious kids heads, though! My almost two yr old son just locked my daughter and I out of the house for an hour and went on a fun non supervised destructive spree until I got back in! Kids!
