My Review

Well wow, The Drowning give me the chills! To be honest I'm terrified of drowning and I can't swim because of a fear of deep water, so thrill seeker that I am - I HAD to try this!!

Rachel Ward has crafted a truly compelling story here and I actually loved every mind-bending second! I couldn't look away and I raced to the end as I needed to know what was going to happen next!

I really like that this came from a male point of view and Carl really is a down-to-earth and very like-able guy. Watching him tear his hair out and start to unravel was very chilling but I loved it. The memory loss thing was brilliantly done and seeing snippets come back to Carl gave me a really good understanding of the events leading up to the drowning!

Carl awakens wet, cold and confused on the banks of a lake! His brother is being zipped into a body bag and he has no idea what happened in the water or who the dripping girl is. Carl will need to unravel the mystery of what happened in the lake on his own. He starts to have hallucinations about his brother and things in the water -  well at least he hopes it's not real.....

There were so many twists and turns in here and the super quick pacing was brilliant! The ending itself is sooooo good.

The Drowning is a great read that is guaranteed to give you chills! It demands your full attention and doesn't let go until the very end. It may even give you pause for thought before immersing yourself in water again......

I could very easily recommend this awesome book!

4/5 Stars!
