Lover at Last by J.R Ward

Summary from Goodreads

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.

My Review

I have been waiting and wanting this book for such a long time and when I actually held it in my hands I was scared to open it! I shouldn't of been wary though because J.R. Ward never fails to deliver and has never let me down!

This is a tense, kick-ass and a highly emotional instalment from a true master in the genre. I was so frustrated with the characters and the storyline (in a good way) that I was slamming the book closed and having F-bombing moments!

Warden's males are deliciously moreish and I always find myself sighing in longing throughout. Blay and Quhinn, I'm pretty sure have been on readers minds for a couple of books now and I couldn't have been more thrilled with getting to know the pair, shall we say a little more intimately.... lol!

The action was so on in this book and I was riveted to every bloodied page, especially the ones that revealed another key factor in the war. The Band of Bastards made quite an appearance, which pleased me because of Xcor, who I just can't seem to get off my mind.

We are also introduced to some new characters and there is one female in particular I can't wait to read more about.

I'm relieved that the Warden waited so long before writing Blay and Qhuinn's story, because it gave all her readers time to get to know and love the pair for who they were and in the end the readers were begging to hear their love story.

I'm not going to try and sum up this story because I'm likely to give something away in my excitement...

This is a stunningly written book that is full of the most awesome characters, raging battle scenes, fab one liners, great banter, beautiful emotion, lots of HOT scenes and also tons of tender moments! A BIG winner that I really am over the moon about!

If you haven't already jumped on the Brotherhood band waggon then go pick up Dark Lover (BK1) today because you will easily become addicted!

A BIG 5 Stars!
