Rage Within by Jeyn Roberts - Blog Tour

 Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts

First there was DARK INSIDE, now there is RAGE WITHIN - this heart-stopping saga of rage, hope and survival continues. Are you ready to face the unknown?

After the earthquakes came the infectious rage, turning friends into deadly enemies. For survivors Michael, Aries, Mason and Clementine the battle to stay alive is about to get even tougher. The new world is organising itself, with camps that promise protection for the uninfected. But the reality of the sites is far more sinister. Besides, nobody is safe from the rage within their own soul . . .

For fans of GONE, or 28 DAYS LATER – Rage Within is the compulsive, page-turning read of the summer.

Mason grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. When he was younger, he travelled lots with his parents. One of his most memorable places was Stanley Park in Vancouver.

Mason's Dad died when he was twelve. It was hard for both him and his mother. He grew a little quieter after that. She worked as a hotel manager and worried about her overly stoic son. Mason had a habit of disappearing into his bedroom for days on end and never talking to anyone.

Most of that changed in high school. Mason found a new group of friends that included Tom, Scotty, Staci, and Kurt. He also briefly dated Britney for a while but that didn't work out. Mason never cared much for team sports. He didn't bother trying out for football although Kurt was on the team.

Mason was one of the more popular kids in school but he never paid much attention to that. He preferred to do his own thing. He didn't belong to any school groups and always sat at the back of the classroom. That said, his grades were decent but he didn't know if he would go to university or not. He was thinking about taking a year off and travelling.

When Mason was eleven, he fell off his BMX and fractured his collar bone. But he didn't tell his mother for three days. He'd been down at the bike track, a place he wasn't supposed to be since it was halfway across town. For three days, Mason managed to keep his injury secret by doing as little as possible. But on the final day, Mom woke him up, announcing it was Saturday and they were going to clean the shed. For two hours, Mason helped move boxes until he finally couldn't ignore the pain. When Mom handed him a garden hose, he promptly took it in his hands and passed out, hitting his head against the lawnmower on the way down. He was rushed to the hospital where the secret finally came out. Thankfully, Mom felt he'd been punished enough.

My Review

I picked up Rage Within right after the high of Dark Inside and I am so pleased to say I was not disapointed, if anything Rage Within topped Dark Inside just a smidgen. Rage Within picks up where Dark Inside left off and Jeyn Roberts has managed to build upon her fabulously complex world, the characters became more in-depth and the storyline was taken to a whole other level. The writing is mind chillingly good and as with Dark Inside the descriptors are a a real treat. Relationships have been formed and I am quite pleased with everyone's love interests although there will definitely be some shockers and twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I love these four main characters, each so different from each other, but I have to say I have a bit of a soft spot for Mason *swoon* for some strange reason that boy intrigues me and always has me wondering...

The four survivors: Aries, Mason, Michael and Clementine are still reeling after the goings on at the end of Dark Inside, but at least they have all managed to stay together. Things step up a notch and everything becomes far tougher for the foursome. Clementine is still searching for her brother, Heath, with a helping hand from trusty Michael. Aries is leading a group of survivors with Mason at her right hand, even though she still sneaks off to see the dangerously addictive, Daniel. Camps are being set up for uninfected survivors, although they are not all they seem and definitely too good to be true.

When the group are forced apart Aries being the leader is forced into action, a rescue mission, which could just as easily end up as a suicide mission for everyone! Will they make it in and out alive? Will Aries be able to rescue everyone? Can they hide from the darkness inside and the rage within their souls?

Well the ending is another explosive one and it has left off with another ton of unanswered questions. I seriously cannot praise Rage Within enough, it is simply awesome! If you haven't had the pleasure of reading the seriously intense Dark Inside yet, then what are you waiting for? :)

*Special thanks to Macmillan for the review copy & for asking me to be part of this tour*

A big 5/5 Stars
