My Review
Thunder and lightening is one of my all time favourite things, so when I read about Struck's main character being a lightening addict I knew that this would be the perfect book for me. I am so pleased to say I was not disappointed, I was interested and glued to the pages from the off. Jennifer Bosworth writes compellingly and has crafted her world brilliantly. The only thing for me was the whole Christianity thing, it's not something I usually enjoy reading about but it wasn't completely over the top & I ended up quite enjoying that aspect of the book. Main character Mia Price intrigues me, she is brave, down-to-earth and I really enjoyed getting to know her.
There is a massive earthquake in LA leaving devastation everywhere in it's wake. Mia seems to have a strange and unexplainable connection to the lightening storm that started the quake. She soon realises that 2 warring cults have the answers she so desperately seeks, but they are both extremely dangerous and she is left not knowing who to trust. Both cults think Mia is special, that she has the spark and they are both trying to win her to their side.
Turns out Mia has the power to either save the world or destroy it! Armed with this shocking knowledge Mia needs to pick a side or will she choose the mysterious Jeremy who is definitely hiding something and warns her off both sides. With time running out and fast she needs to make her decision pretty quickly.
Struck is peppered with plenty of twists and turns that I didn't see coming and the ending really was amazing. It had loads of shockers, tons of action and I really was more than satisfied with the outcome. Struck is a really chilling version of the future that was made really realistic with some fantastic writing. I urge everyone to pick up this electrifying book today!

ReplyDeleteThis is one that I just can't get excited about. I have read some great reviews on this and then some not so flattering ones as well. I know I would not like the Christaianity stuff, either. I think I will pass on this one, I am glad it worked for you, Carly!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the trailer, it was like a movie. And the cover is awesome. But i've heard many saying the religious aspect of the story was overwhelming. Great review though!
