Clarity by Kim Harrington

Clarity “Clare” Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It’s a gift.

And a curse.

When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare’s ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case—but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare’s brother—who has supernatural gifts of his own—becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?

My Review

Wow, I really wasn't expecting Clarity to be as good as it was! I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This is a quick, light read that was over all too soon. Clarity has so many positives, supernatural activity, murder mystery, a fun and intelligent main character that was instantly likable, and not to mention the authors really beautiful writing style. Clarity has easily found it's way onto my favourites shelf and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book Perception!

Clare Fern has a supernatural talent that is both a gift and a curse, she sees things, visions from the past if she touches certain objects. Clare is a brilliant character, she is strong and intelligent but she is seen as a bit of a freak by the other people in her school. Clare's mum can read peoples thoughts and her brother Perry can can communicate with ghosts, so as a trio they run quite a profitable business out of their talents.

When the body of a murdered teenage girl is found Perry becomes the police's number one prime suspect, as he was the last person to see the victim alive! Clare must help prove her brother's innocence, so she decides to use her gift to aid the police in their investigation. There are 2 boys in her life vying for her attention and forgiveness, but Clare finds herself attracted to both of the guys in question!

Will Clare be able to rely on her gift to clear Perry's name? Well, I won't give anything away, but lets just say I suspected everybody and in the end I was quite surprised by the outcome!

It's hard to believe Clarity is Kim Harrington's debut novel, it really is that good. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for Clare and her strange little family next. This is definitely a must read book that I urge you to pick up today, it will not disapoint!
