Night Sky by Jolene Perry - Blog Tour Stop

Girl I’ve loved, girl I’m falling for. Now that they’re both in view, the problem is clear.

After losing Sarah, the friend he’s loved, to some other guy, Jameson meets Sky. Her Native American roots, fluid movements, and need for brutal honesty become addictive fast. This is good. Jameson needs distraction – his dad leaves for another woman, his mom’s walking around like a zombie, and Sarah’s new boyfriend can’t keep his hands off of her.

As he spends time with Sky and learns about her village, her totems, and her friends with drums - she's way more than distraction. Jameson's falling for her fast.

But Sky’s need for honesty somehow doesn’t extend to her life story – and Jameson just may need more than his new girl to keep him distracted from the disaster of his senior year.

My Review

Night Sky was a fairly quick read that gave me a little pick me up and left me with a smile on my face. I really enjoyed the authors beautiful writing style and really charming storyline. The characters for me are what really made the book, they were so down-to-earth, relate-able and really endearing. The story is told from a male perspective which was brilliant an a big change from most other YA titles I have read. I think everyone should read Night Sky as it has a little something in there for everyone.

Jameson 'Jay' is in love with his best-friend Sarah. But Sarah has started going with a guy named Eric, who is a bit of a jerk. It leaves Jay feeling awkward around Sarah and it leaves them feeling a bit down in the dumps. Until he meets Sky.

Sky is a bit older than Jay, she is very beautiful and has a real earthly quality about her which I adore. Jay and Sky immediately hit it off and the pair hang out together allot. But Sky is part of a clan and has to sit on council meetings. She also has this honesty thing with Jay that ends up coming back to bite her. She hasn't been honest with Jay and has a big secret that will be a big shocker. She has to return to her parents house (which is an eternity away) and resolve some issues with her clan. But she has left Jay shocked and not even knowing if she will return.

I loved the ending of Night Sky, the whole book has this simplistic quality about it that makes it interesting, more like real life. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed this book, all I can do is urge you to pick it up today, I highly recommend it.

Oh and can I just mention the absolutely stunning cover, definitely some cover love going on over here.  ;)

Favourite Quotes:

"If I'm not listening good enough to hear you, then I don't deserve to hear."

"Like I'm flying through the night sky because I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, bit I can't get enough of you!"

"Resist girlish urge to write Sky's name all over the margins of my notebook - I'm mostly successful."

*A review copy was provided for the book tour, thank-you.*

4/5 Stars
