Martha and the Bunny Brothers by Clara Vulliamy

Summary

Starting school has never been so fun! The first in an exuberant, feel-good new series from Clara Vulliamy. I Heart School is pure sunshine in picture book format, every page will make you smile!

The Big News in the launch title of this joy-filled new series is that it’s Martha's first day of school! It's all so exciting! She needs to choose the perfect first-day-at-school outfit and decide what to pack in her new school bag, which is proving quite tricky…

Trouble is, she may be able to take her snowdome and her fairy wings and her scooter, but she has to leave behind her two not-so-happy little bunny brothers…

But Martha finds room in her school bag for a very special picture that the Happy Bunny Club has made especially for her, and it's not long before she's back from school and Martha and her bunny brothers are reunited (in their secret den)! Hooray!

Young readers will adore helping Martha to choose what to wear and what to take to school in these sunshine-filled pages that weave together all the little details of Martha’s life, with a charming story about sibling relationships and starting school.

My Review

Martha and the Bunny Brothers is a truly wonderful read. It has fabulous illustrations, that are bright, bold and very attractive. The layout of the book is not your regular left to right, it has a much more interestingly random layout that is fantastic to look at while still being easy to understand and read.

Martha is going to school for the first time today. She is packing everything into her brand new school bag and picking out something really special to wear. Her two bunny brothers, Monty and Pip don't really want Martha to leave them and go to school. They have Martha doing all sorts of things like making a secret den and making badges.

But all to soon Martha's mum says it's time for them to go. But first Martha needs to unpack her overfilled school bag. She decides to just bring her Happy Bunny Club badge that her bunny brothers have made just for her.

This little book has a great message for little ones, their belongings will still be waiting for them when they come home from school, so there's no need to bring everything with you and even though your brothers will really miss you they will be there waiting to play with you when you get home. This book will be great for anyone starting school for the first time.

My daughter (3) loved Martha and the Bunny Brothers and has had me reading it every night from we got it. We are now eagerly awaiting more books in the I Heart School series. So, yes, I would say this book is a real winner and I would highly recommend it for your little one.
