As the daughter of a career librarian I grew up loving books; ‘Patience & Fortitude’ at the NYPL were my heroes. Beginning with my first book of historical romance which was titled, The Heart of a Legend, and moving into the action/adventure world with a series called, Tallent & Lowery, I have been very lucky. And now entering the foray of the YA genre, I am truly excited about the future.
Working as an editor in the publishing industry for decades, I am now the Owner/Operator of The Write Companion (www.thewritecompanion.com) which offers full editing, ghostwriting and proofreading services to authors. I am a contributor to Suspense Magazine and various other literary publications such as The RT (Romantic Times), and HumorOutcasts.com. I am also a reviewer for periodicals and websites including: Authorlink, The Feathered Quill, The Romantic Times (RT) Magazine, SheWrites.com, Random House YA, Bookpleasures.com, and Once Upon a Romance. I am a contributor for Ruby For Women (http://rubyforwomen.com/ruby-blogger-of-the-weekamy-lignor-of-the-write-companion), and many of my writings have touched people’s hearts, which makes me very proud. I have also become a Goodreads Librarian with many followers for my blogs and book reviews. I have also won their YA writing contest with my continuing story titled, Meet the Reaper.

Until Next Time
How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?
Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache. When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans. From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.
Guest Post from Amy Lignor:
In my freshman year of high school, a writing assignment came along from our history teacher about Nicholas & Alexandra. I was the only one who wrote about Rasputin (who actually appears in one of my Tallent & Lowery adventure novels). The teacher loved it and told me to become a writer. She was so cute. Four-foot-two, hair that hung to the floor and a voice that was louder than Lady Ga Ga stuck in a b
lender.
I went on to write my first YA novel (Mind Made), after I brought a stunning little girl into the world named Shelby. One day we went to the ‘grand opening’ of an Inn located in my very small hometown. I picked up a coffee table book and pages began to fall out of it. Seeing as how this place looked like it would charge guests a million dollars to stay there, I figured I’d just destroyed some priceless work of art. When I reached down to pick up one of the photographs, it was of a girl standing outside the Inn back in the early 1900’s. The tagline read, The Connecticut Home for Imbeciles, and she was leaning against a road sign that read, ‘Dip.’ That girl looked up at me with eyes that literally said “Run!” and very soon after, my daughter and I fled.
I went back to my historical routes and delved into a subject that hadn’t been touched on before concerning a woman by the name of Paulita Maxwell who was said to have been the mother of Billy the Kid’s son. I moved to New Mexico to research the project and my book, Heart of a Legend, was born.
I love putting puzzles together from history with my Tallent & Lowery series. With the first book, 13, I had to find a way to link the NYPL with Jack the Ripper, Loch Ness, and the King Arthur legend - which was a whole lot of fun.
When my father was taken away from us far too soon I began thinking about angels, and what life was like ‘up there’ versus down here. Would an angel/warrior ‘team’ be able to survive humanity, fight for them, and stay together all at the same time? The Angel Chronicles answers that question.
So, in the end, I guess I owe my writing to a cat who had to go “nightsie.”
My Review
Until Next Time is not your typical angel's story, it is very different. I will admit I was a little confused at times but I quickly got sucked into the whole world. The characters are strong and interesting and I love the world Amy Lignor has created here. Special thanks to Amy for the review copy.
Emily is an angel and she resided up in heaven, her partner Matt is a warrior. Together they have been in training to go to earth to gather as much information as possible about mankind. They will have a mission and will have to help as many innocents that they can along the way. They will have a choice when their missions on earth finish, to return to earth to do things differently, if they choose to do so.
Matt and Emily are put on earth, Emily as Elizabeth (Liz). Liz owns a bar in Ireland with her best friend Faith. They meet two men by chance, called Charles and Jason. Something terrible happens, Faith and Liz are left homeless. So they head off on horseback with Charles and Jason, leaving everything they ever knew behind, including their close friend Daniel.
They travel into the heart of Dublin, to Charles' parents house, they are vile creatures, the lowest of the low. Everything becomes clear from here on in, so I am trying to be careful about what I say.
Faith and Charles are in love and they have a great chemistry together. Liz really likes Jason and Jason loves Liz but she won't let him in. Liz has strange dreams and blacks out all the time, but really she is going to heaven to get advice and see Matt even though she can't remember anything when she returns to earth.
The ending is the best part in the whole book, for me. I loved how everything fits into place and is explained. It also intrigues me with the prologue, I am now dying to read the next instalment in the series.
The storyline is fantastic, everyone involved had a really amazing journey, learning what they could about life, Until Next Time.
My favourite characters have to be:
Liz- she is such a strong, earthly individual. I love how she can handle any situation and the firm way she deals with the people who means the ones she loves harm. She is a great friend and a very intelligent lady.
Charles - I wasn't too keen on him at the start, I didn't really trust him. But he turned out to be a really charming individual, a loyal friend and had a really good sense of humour, he made me giggle throughout with his overly confident manner.
4/5 Stars
Carly :)

ReplyDeleteCarly, I'm with you - I loved the scene with Liz and Charles by the inn's stables. I think for me that's one of my top two scenes in the book. The dialogue between Liz and Charles is truly entertaining. Thanks for giving them a special shout out and for reviewing the book & hosting Amy!
