Foolish Games By Leah Spiegel

Product Description

Falling in love was the last thing Joie had on her mind when she was thrown into the marketing scandal intended to boost the Grimm Brothers Band's declining sales. Joie thought she knew the players of the game; she was the writer, J.T. Hawkins was the famous rock star, and Lizzie was her beautiful cover to the world. That was until a psychopathic stalker, who seemed to be three steps ahead of everyone else and calling all the shots, upped the stakes. In a situation where many different kinds of games were being played, Joie had to figure out if or who was bluffing because her life. . . and her heart, might very well depend on it.

I don't know what I was expecting with this book, but I loved it. Reading this was a breath of fresh air for me. The characters were fantastic, Main character Joie is your typical girl next door. I could relate to her on so many levels, she is such a down to earth likeable character. Joie's best friend Riley is gay, super hott with a double T, honest, likeable guy. I think every girl needs a friend like Riley. Lizzie is a long time friend of Joie's, I think everyone has at least one friend like Lizzie, she's selfish, loves herself and is quite bitchy.

Joie's dad died and in his will left her his old Volkswagen van and some money. The three friends decide to go on a road trip following The Grimm Brothers Band, a rock band on their tour. Riley got a job reviewing the bands concerts, so it's perfect for everyone to go along for the ride.

Lizzie being Lizzie hooks up with Warren  the drummer of the Grimm Brothers band. So Joie goes with her to the hotel, things get embarrassing when Hawkins 'The lead Singer' makes a snide comment saying "I prefer blondes." Joie has these rules she decided upon before going on the road trip. No tour buses, no hotels, no going back stage, things like that. Lizzie tells everyone in the elevator that Joie was breaking one of her own rules just by being there. Hawkins hears and laughs thinking she's full of herself.

The next day when Riley is writing his review for last night, Joie sums up the night poking fun at Hawkins, Riley types it all up humouring Joie. The fake review accidentally gets posted to the bands website. Hawkins tweets a reply adding fuel to the media fire, and angering Joie in the process.

Things continue to ping-pong between Joie and Hawkins. The public think the person slagging Hawkins is Lizzie as Joie put a picture of her up and the confusion was never straightened out. Hawkins meets with Joie and they make arrangements for for Joie and Lizzie to meet up with the band after the shows and for Joie to keep writing about Hawkins, even tho the public think it's Lizzie. It's really good publicity for the band as the public are hanging on every word between the pair.Hawkins also revels that it is not a good time to be trying to hang out with the band.

Joie and Lizzie have a driver (Cyrus) that picks them up after a show and takes them to the location the band is going. One night when Joie gets in Lizzie is crying, she thinks she is just huffing because of her and Hawkins starting to get closer. Turns out Cyrus is holding her and is trying to kidnap them both. They manage to escape and Hawkins steps up security. The driver who was supposed to be driving them around is missing and no one no's who the mystery driver is.

Things get creepy from there on in. Someone is defiantly out to get Joie. They start staying in hotels so they are not staying outside in the van. Things between Hawkins and Joie hot up and they are smitten with each other. Lizzie is another story, her jealousy causes her to do mean things and her and Joie fall out. Hawkins turns out to be a genuine good guy who cares for Joie very much. She is his muse, he starts to write music again.

Joie seems to learn alot about herself throughout this book and she really grows as a person. She starts to trust again, which is very hard for her after a previous relationship.

Now the ending was one shock I was not expecting. Leah Spiegel built up the suspense so well, everything fell into place perfectly. This for me is writing at it's best. not my usual genre, being a paranormal girl, but I just loved reading this, I devoured it.

Suspense, mystery, romance, drama, put together with fantastic characters, plot and writing style, what more could you ask for? This is an absolute must read, I will definitely go back and read it again.

Excellent work Leah Spiegel, you have one happy reader.

5 star read.
